Baseball Records Registry: The Best and Worst Single-Day Performances and the Stories Behind Them ReviewThis is a terrific book that gives detailed accounts of all the weird and interesting record setting games in baseball history from 1901-1997. The author has obviously done a lot of diligent research, and I find the book fascinating. Do you know the record for most stolen base attempts by one team in game? (20!). Did you know that a man once pitched a complete 9-inning game throwing only 58 pitches? (Think about that one--it's described in here). This is great for people who love statistics, but the accounts of the games are also very well-written, and loaded with trivia anecdotes. I only wish there could be an updated version someday. Highly recommended.Baseball Records Registry: The Best and Worst Single-Day Performances and the Stories Behind Them OverviewThrough meticulous research the author has unearthed many heretofore unknown baseball records and has corrected many others that have been erroneously reported for decades. For each of the 240 games, there is a narrative that details the records and the personalities behind them, along with a comprehensive boxscore and photos of the game's hero or goat.
