A TV interview with Jayne Garcia Valseca in which she discussed her book We Have Your Husband: One Woman's Terrifying Story of a Kidnapping in Mexico was enough on topic for me to put on my KINDLE.
I started reading the book with no expectations. Pleasantly surprised is an understatement. Within a few pages I found myself riveted to the story. If a page turning tale was not enough, Jayne Garcia Valseca began a flow of new information on the workings of the Mexican underworld and those who would try to counter them, she introduced me to some new Spanish vocabulary and to priceless Mexican idioms. The author provided good insight into the lives and behavior of Mexican Nationals as well as those of the expatriate community. The biggest surprise was Jayne Garcia Valseca's writing ability, I am impressed.
The story is more than an adventure; it is an example of tenacity prevailing in the face of hopelessness.
I give We Have Your Husband: One Woman's Terrifying Story of a Kidnapping in Mexico five stars plus with a recommendation to readers of Mexico topics, adventure stories, self-help and personal development books and fine literature.
