A Tradition of Purple: An Inside Look at the Minnesota Vikings ReviewI ordered this book for myself for Christmas and anxiously awaited it's arrival.
I enjoyed the first Four Chapters. Then I got to Chapter Five, "Community Connection". At Forty pages, it is the longest of the Eleven chapters in the book.
I suppose with all of the bad press the Vikings have gotten over recent years it made sense to include this Chapter in the book. It wasn't however, what I was looking for when I ordered the book. I was looking more for stories about the coaches and players and to some extent, the fans, but there is far too much in this book about what the Vikings coaches and players do in the community, and not enough stories about coaches and players for my taste.
More stories like the one about Dave Osborn sneaking into the Vikings locker room, after he had joined the Packers would have made this a more enjoyable read.
I give the book two stars. However,since the author actually tried out for the Vikings and is a lifelong Minnesota Vikings fan, I give him a bonus star. How can I fault him for that?
