The Complete Idiot's Guide to Self-Testing Your IQ ReviewI gave up on this book after the first test - there were at least 3 wrong answers.
I did look ahead to chapter 2 which outlines the different types of subtests that makeup IQ tests. The section on spatial ability shows a problem that was included in the first IQ test - only this time it showed a different answer as being correct!
This is a hastily put together, poorly written (at least as far as the actual tests go) book.
The whole point of a book like this is to test your IQ and if the tests can't be trusted the book is useless. I've purchased books to test your IQ in the past and never had this sort of problem. This is the first book I've purchased in the Idiot series and I won't be buying another.
The Complete Idiot's Guide to Self-Testing Your IQ OverviewAn enjoyable and entertaining way to measure brainpower. The Complete Idiot's Guide to Self-Testing Your IQ provides readers with tests that can be used to estimate a realistic IQ score, as well as games, puzzles, and more for an engaging and exciting workout for the mind. Using an amusement-based approach, IQ expert Dr. Jean Cirillo presents fun questions and answers that are rooted in standard IQ testing. •Tests and games included are designed to measure cognitive skills, reasoning abilities, problem-solving capabilities, verbal abilities, mathematics and calculation skills, short- and long-term memory, and much more •Because the tests are separated by area, this book has a strong "flip-through" factor, offering readers tests to be completed in one sitting for a comprehensive score, or as many or as few per sitting as time permits

The Everything Kids' Baseball Book: From baseball history to player stats - with lots of homerun fun in between (Everything Kids Series) ReviewI bought this book because my son loves baseball and I know nothing about it. I'm a single mom that wants to help in anyway I can but I was lost when explaining anything about baseball. I bought this book so I could learn and then talk about it with my 7 year old so it looked like I had a clue! ;) I have shocked many fathers' on my son's baseball team because I knew all about the history of baseball and could speak the lingo right along with them. Highly recommend this book for the parent or child that wants to learn everything you need to know about the all American sport! The Everything Kids' Baseball Book: From baseball history to player stats - with lots of homerun fun in between (Everything Kids Series) OverviewFrom the ballpark to the backyard and beyond, this book captures all the action, fun, and excitement of America's favorite pastime. USA Today Everyday Sudoku: 200 Puzzles from The Nation's No. 1 Newspaper ReviewA co-worker turned me on to Sudoku a couple of months ago. He does the USA
Today Sudoku daily. I picked up this collection recently. The book starts
(as do most such collections) with the almost-standard Sudoku tutorial.
The puzzles are rated from one to five stars (easy to hard) for difficulty
(65 one-star, 45 two-star, 50 three-star, 20 four-star, and 20 five-star).
The star ratings seem reasonable. In every collection I've seen, I have
found that there will always be a few easy ones that are hard because you
missed something staring you in the face, and a couple of hard ones that
are easy because you got lucky at just the right point. The ratings here
seem pretty accurate.
The grids are decent-sized; not jumbo, but not tiny, with one puzzle per
page. In addition to the usual heavier lines between 3x3 cubes, these
puzzles have alternating cubes shaded gray, which makes it very clear
where the cube boundaries are. The gray is a little too dark for my taste
(especially if you don't have a dark pen or pencil). The numbers are bold
and large.
Unlike some collections, these are all traditional Sudoku -- no variants
such as Monster Sudoku, Sudoku X, Killer Sudoku, etc. Also, unlike a lot
of recent collections, the givens are actually placed symmetrically (in
fact, this book was the first one that I've purchased that actually does
use symmetric givens throughout).
All in all, a good collection of Sudoku. By the way, if you're interested
in an overview of Sudoku, including history and mathematical background,
I recommend the Wikipedia article on Sudoku.
